Flowers, Trucks, and Robots

I think the majority of my blog posts start this way,
but once again, I apologize for going a month without
posting. Things have been insane around here lately.
Since I last posted we've managed to paint Ansley's
new room, get her moved in, and paint baby Hudson's
room. We stretched our creative muscles with Ansley's
room and decided to go bold. Three purple walls, a
pink wall and a big white flower. It is extremely
girly! You can see some pictures here. We have some
finishing touches to add, but you'll get the
idea.
Ansley's done a pretty good job moving from a day bed (crib sized) to a queen bed. She does get up in the middle of the night from time to time and knocks on her door, or yells for someone to come get her. She usually lays right back down and back to sleep. After some analysis, Liz and I have concluded she is getting up because she doesn't know whether or not its morning. Basically, since its always pretty dark in the morning right now, Ansley just wakes up and thinks it is morning. Most of the time, she is perfectly happy to lay back down if you tell her its still night time.
Ansley is pretty obsessed with singing right now. She sings everything. Real songs, made up songs, real songs combined with made up songs. She sings her prayers at night. She sings songs about Barbie and Mickey Mouse visiting Jesus reading the B-I-B-L-E -and several other variations of disney characters and Bible characters interacting. Needless to say, Children's Choir is a big hit. I have some songs on video, I'll get them edited and posted later this week.
Its not all sunshine and funny songs. Ansley is definitely "establishing her boundaries" (fancy speak for being a pill about 30% of the time). She often tries to use our discipline techniques on us. She'll tell Liz to go to time out, or tell me I cannot watch TV anymore if I don't do what she says. Ansley has a flair for the dramatics.
In the midsts of songs and melt-downs, there have been a couple of great quotes I wanted to share. Wednesday night we were on the way home from church. Liz and I were trying to talk, but Ansley was having a conversation with no one in the back seat with the occasional question thrown our way. At some point Liz tried to tell me something and we hear from the back seat, "MOMMA! Was I finished talking?!!!..uh, No!" So, apparently sarcasm is learned at age three and one half....
Today, I was helping Ansley with something and tried to go get her scooter at the same time. She yelled for help, and as I came back I said, "I'm not very good at doing two things at once am I?" She responded, "Robots are good at doing two things at once. They can do lots of things at once. Maybe you should get a robot." Maybe I should.
After a much needed garage sale this morning, we went to a Touch-A-Truck event at the local park. Ansley thought it was pretty cool to climb all the different type of vehicles. There are a few pictures in the September album.
